Lawson’s passion is Jesus. His activities during the past thirty years of adult life include teaching, child evangelism, college chaplaincy, instructing outdoor pursuits, camp ministry, sports coaching (rugby, volleyball, and the 400m sprint), itinerant preaching, church planting, pastoring, advocating for Bible engagement, and writing books. Lawson was born in England and grew up in South Africa. He’s married to his best friend, Karen. Their children are Christie (married to Josiah), Matthew (engaged to Jordan), and Jonathan. When Lawson isn’t working he loves doing things with his family – the joy of his life. Lawson joined the Scripture Union Canada staff in September 2010. He’s deeply committed to encouraging people to know God and engage the Scriptures. He enthusiastically invites Canadians of all ages to connect with Jesus Christ, to use Scripture Union’s inspirational Bible reading guides, and to support, pray for and be involved with SU Sportz.

 

Bob grew up in Toronto and followed his athletic dreams into the New York Yankee farm system, where he played third base. After injury ended his career he worked for Bell Canada for 21 years before joining Athletes in Action, where he served as Eastern Canada Director from 1995-2005. He has coached many high-level baseball and hockey teams and is currently an assistant coach with the Durham College men’s baseball team.

Bob’s passion is equipping Canadian and International churches to reach children and their families through sports, so that the good news of Jesus is shared and children are invited to follow Him for life. Bob is married to Lesley and they have four children, Matthew, Melissa, Ryan and Robbie.

Amy has been part of our summer team for the last four years, managing our camps across Ontario.  She was raised in a wonderful Christian home in Toronto and was blessed with opportunities to serve the Lord in her church through youth ministry, worship team and Sunday School.  After graduating from University of Toronto in 2008 she left for Hungary and spent a little time volunteering with Scripture Union Hungary teaching Christian Bible Clubs in elementary schools around Budapest.  This past summer Amy married Janos, a pastor from Hungary who also has a passion for sports ministry. Amy is now the fulltime program director for SU Sportz and is responsible for the development of our children’s ministry programs and working with churches too .  Amy has boundless enthusiasm for building relationships and helping churches learn to use sports ministry for outreach.

Joan is our longest serving staff member having joined SU Canada in 1997 and currently serves as Senior Administrative Assistant.  Originally from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan she and husband, Ron make their home in Whitby, Ontario and are the parents of three children:  Dallas who lives in Brooklyn  NY, Karmyn (married to Ben) and living in Burlington, ON  and Dustin who lives in Edmonton, AB.

Andrea has been with Scripture Union Canada since 2000 and as the Business Manager she handles both the Office Management and Accounting functions for the ministry. 

Andrea is married to Edward and is the mother of three young adult sons, and as of August, 2010, one new daughter-in-law.  Andrea resides in Ajax, Ontario however was born and raised in Saskatchewan and proudly continues to have a strong affection for Western Canada.

Barb joined SU Canada in August 2010 and serves as Administrative Assistant.  She has been married for 22 years to Glen Roadknight and has two children, Thomas 11 and Rehema 9.  Barb and Glen served with Africa Inland Mission for 10 years in Kenya, East Africa and returned to Canada 2 years ago.
